We read books, then Sofia played by herself in the kitchen whilst I got breakfast ready. She got breakfast a bit late today and it was 8.45am before she was done, so I had to get her to bed. She was asleep by 9am, but did not sleep for more than 30min…

Swimming was 2 hours away, so I tried nursing her back to sleep. She had her eyes closed, but as soon as she was done she was ready to meet and greet the world so I put her in her play area in the kitchen and got ready. We played for a bit before we left… Here is a video of Sofia playing the keyboard with her mouth. I was a bit worried how she would go being awake for that long, but I also know how much she loves swimming and that it makes her tired.

Swimming went really well. She really loves it! Arms and legs going and big smiles :). I thought she’d be too tired to focus on what was going on (that’s happened before), but she did alright. When we got back she was very tired indeed… she’d been awake for 3 hours by the time she was asleep (12.30pm). It does hover confirm a suspicion I have had the last couple of days (since I read about sleeping and 8 month olds) that I am putting her to bed too early. Apparently they can get more and more tired if they are not awake for long enough – and they show tired signs more out of habit so you can’t always rely on that… In the next few days I will drag out awake time a bit more for her and see how she goes.

Sofia slept for 1.5 hours, but after giving her the lunch I couldn’t before swimming she seemed very tired again… and I thought maybe she woke up just because she was hungry. I tried to put her down for a little nap, but she quickly sat up and was very much awake, so I brought her back out. Instead I took Sofia and Pablo on a longer walk, and stopped at the park on the way back so Pablo could have a run around. I ran with him for about 2 min, then I was out of breath ha ha.

When we got back Sofia was practicing standing… She started pushing out with one leg, so eventually she was almost doing the splits. I pushed her legs back together a couple of times, but she kept doing it so I just wanted to see what she was doing… When she was almost doing the splits she sat down! Ha ha ha I guess falling and hitting the back on her head twice was enough for the little one, so now she’s making sure she’s as close to the ground as possible before she sits down. So cute, my clever little girl :).

Then it was time for dinner and the night time routine. Sofia screamed as we left the room, and I just didn’t have the energy/heart to go through the same as last night so I sat with her. Then I realised; she keeps feeling things to put herself to sleep… plus she doesn’t want to be alone. Maybe she’s ready for a soft cuddly toy in bed? I got her one and she instantly had her hand on it, feeling it… she still wouldn’t let me go, but maybe next time? Or the next again? About 40min she was properly asleep and I was free 😉

Playing with mouth

Sofia started whinging a bit at 5.30am, and at 6am and then again at 6.30… so I finally got up.
