Sofia was waking up very slow this morning. I went in just before 7am and made brekky. Nani Claire was up as well and had brekky with us. Then Mike got up and left for work and Nani Claire went to her new house with the painter. I took Sofia and Pablo for a walk. When we got back Sofia had a snack and then Nani Claire was back. We had a short play before it was time it was time for Sofia to go to bed. I was putting her to bed at about 10.45 when Kaylene and Andrew came for a visit. I let them in and went back into Sofia’s room and put her to bed. Nani Claire left to make an errand and Kaylene and I got to talk whilst Andrew played with Sofia’s toys. Sofia only slept for about an hour when I saw her move around, but then fell asleep again. She didn’t sleep long that time either. Just as Kaylene and Andrew was about to leave Sofia woke up… so I got her… They all got to say hi for a very short while and then goodbye. After they left I realised Sofia had a full nappy – and that’s why she was sleeping so poorly. I decided to put her back into bed. Sofia tried for about 15min but then stood up in bed so I got her back out. Nani Claire had come back by then. We all had a snack and then went grocery shopping. When we got back Sofia helped putting the groceries away. It was already 3.30pm at that stage so I made dinner whilst Sofia played with Nani. We all had an early dinner. After dinner we played for about 20minutes before bath time. Sofia grabbed her fold-up camping chair. She wanted me to unfold it so she could sit in it. As soon as it was up she started pointing, ‘oh’ing’ and running towards the kitchen whilst she was looking at me. I understood from yesterday (Mike had shown her there was a holder for her drink on the chair) that she wanted her drink to put into the holder on the chair. She was so happy I understood and ran with the drink back to the chair, put it into the holder and sat down and drank. She even stood up next to the chair and drank without taking it out of the holder – so funny. I handed Sofia her new tooth brush and she started, but ran into the bathroom and there she pointed to the new tooth brush – she then used them both as the same time! I went to get my camera – by the time I got back both tooth brushes were on the floor and she was in the cupboard. She pulled out a packet and gave it to me. It looked like the bath salts she’d gotten from Switzerland for Christmas. We’d put that in the night before, so I found the right packet and promised to put it in if she let me brush her teeth. She was standing so still and was such a good girl :). She enjoyed her pink bath :). Then daddy got home and we put her to bed together. Sofia only protested a little when I put her down. She was quiet before we even got to the door.
I’m so happy now. Sofia is starting to really communicate. She tells me when she’s thirsty or hungry by going to the fridge, she gives me my phone and/or points to the radio in the kitchen if she wants music etc.
