Sofia woke up crying again around 12.30am and I ended up sitting there with her as she was trying to sleep. Then every 10min or so trying to stand up… Finally I left :(. Soooo tired :(. I just went to bed and fell asleep … to the cries of my baby. Once again feeling horrible about my inadequacies as a mum.
When she woke up at 6am with a soft cry I went to pick her up, cuddle and put her on my boob in our bed. She fell asleep pretty quickly and I woke her up at 7.30am again. I got her changed, dressed and finished the breastfeeding job.
I read to Sofia and then we had breakfast together. Sofia and Pablo was on the floor together – under supervision. Pablo gets extra cuddles and praise when he ignores her – as I have realised it’s a very hard job for him he he. After some housework and a play that started to become more about keeping Pablo off Sofia it was time for the little girl to go to bed.
Sofia cried for a little bit as I left, but quietened down pretty quickly. She slept for 2 hours and woke up by herself.
After lunch we played and practised walking, getting up and sitting down. Here is a video of Sofia standing up (with the assistance of the sofa). Sofia is now doing squats – getting her feet underneath and bending those knees till she’s almost on the floor before landing on her bum. Quite amazing to see. Them it was time for her second nap, and she slept for about an hour and woke up by herself.
Then we met up with Kaylene and Andrew. It’s was Andrews second birthday yesterday, and we missed it because Sofia was struggling so much with her sleep and the party was during her long nap… Was very good to see them. We went for a walk and had a bit of a play in the park.
By the time we got back it was past 5pm and time for dinner. We had no hot water so we waited for Mike to bring gas and connect it. We then went through the nighttime routine.
After Sofia was in bed we had Indian take out (waiting for us). After food I laid down on the couch with Pablo and fell asleep- so I went to bed- fully clothed and without brushing me teeth…, gone.
Mike told me when we both woke up at 3am (not because of Sofia), that she had woken up crying 3 times between 10-11pm. Mike had picked her up each time for a quick cuddle and patted her back and within 5min she was back to sleep. I must have been very exhausted not to hear any of that :(. Very glad Mike did such a good job.
