24 June
Sofia woke up with a cry at about midnight and started calling out for mummy. So I went in and she seemed very distressed. She kept coughing and dry reaching…. I calmed her down but when I tried to leave she got frantic so I couldn’t. I ended up taking her into bed with me. Mike ended up not being very impressed as Sofia was kicking us and moving around for the next 2 hours – so he put her back into bed. It didn’t last however as she started crying after about 10min so I went in. She cried when I left, but seemed calm down and find her sleep eventually.
Sofia woke up again at about 6.15am. Mike got her and she had brekky in bed and watched Peppa pig for awhile. We all got up and took turns getting ready before we all took Pablo for a walk.
When we got back I had to hurry and get some food into Sofia. She wasn’t really all that interested – possibly because I was a bit stressed – but doing the aeroplane worked for quite a number of spoonfuls he he (it’s from her new favourite Peppa pig book; baby Alexander). Then she refused more just as we had to leave anyway. We had a doctors appointment at 10.45am so we had to get going.
The doctor told me it was definitely a virus or bacteria, but that there was no way of knowing for sure without further testing. He said there was nothing in the ears and the lungs sound good. He recommended leaving it and keep checking for fevers, coughing up green phlegm or worsening cough… If it’s still not better in 4 weeks time to try a course of antibiotics … He gave me a prescription. Sofia almost fell asleep in the car in the way back.
At home I put her to bed and she slept for about 1 hour and 20minutes. Mike went in to try and get a bit more sleep out of her, and she tried but failed. I got her back up and gave her a snack before I left to visit Kaylene, Will and Andrew and their little newborn girl Lucy. As I was leaving Sofia came out to the garage and fell face first down the step! It was awful – and she got a big red mark in the top of her head. Luckily that seemed to be the only injury. At Kaylene’s I got a peak at Lucy when she was asleep – sooo cute and tiny! Easy to forget how tiny they are. Mike played with Sofia and they had fun.
When I got back Sofia had a quick snack and then we went to dancing. We had fun at dancing and today I felt like I could tell she’s starting to understand what’s going on – that we are all doing the same… She was looking around – and really looking at everyone.
When we got back Nani Claire was there. Sofia was very happy to see her :). After Sofia had dinner she crawled up on a chair like she has started doing lately, but then all of a sudden fell off! Head down and feet up – she managed to get her hands up however and luckily seemed to not get hurt.
Then Nani left and Sofia had a bath and went to bed. Sofia went to sleep with no protests.
Then Mike and I packed our bags. Poor Pablo looking uncomfortable …
