At mothers group today we had someone come and talk to us about how babies brains work and how they develop. Among other things, what I found interesting, was that he said 2 year olds don’t understand the words ‘no’, ‘don’t’, and ‘stop’. So if you say f.eks. ‘don’t run in the house’ all the hear is ‘run in the house’. Meaning… if you want your child to not run in the house you could say ‘walk in the house’.
Also… if they do something they are not supposed to, instead of becoming angry/upset go up the the child and say ‘what is the matter’ and give them a hug. Usually if a child does something they know is wrong it is because their bucket is almost empty and you need to help them refill by giving love and cuddles. The you can say; ‘oh and by the way… what you were doing is not a god idea, and here is why…
Someone in the group mentioned a cute snippet on youtube called; have you filled your bucket today, and from that we ended up watching this cute video here…
