Sofia woke up at 5.10am, but didn’t make noise for long and I fell asleep again. I assume she did as well. Next time she woke up was at 6am, but managed to drag it out till 6.15am. Mike had already been to the gym at that stage and was walking the dog. They came back as Sofia had her morning snack. Mike then had a shower whilst I made us brekky and then I had a shower whilst Mike finished feeding Sofia. Then Mike read a few books for Sofia before he left for work. Sofia opened up number 2 in the Christmas Calendar and played for a bit. I read her a few books before her morning nap. She was in bed at 8.30am, and would not have it! It took her about 40minutes to fall asleep… so I knew straight away we wouldn’t make the music session. She only slept for 1 hour.
When Sofia woke up she had a snack and then we went grocery shopping. I thought it would be a great idea to let her run around with her own little shopping cart… I knew it would be a lot more work, I just didn’t realise how much work. First thing that happened was that she took off in quite the tempo and I had to leave the big cart with all my bag (money, car keys etc) to chase after her. I got to her pretty quick though and managed to turn her around so I could get the cart. Then she wanted to stop everywhere and touch things so… I put her in my cart and pulled the extra cart with us. Sofia seemed fine with not having to walk anymore. When we got back she wanted to help out with the groceries by getting into all the cupboards and dragging all the old stuff out. Putting the new stuff in was out of the question he he. After a quick play I realised Sofia had been awake for 3 hours, and she looked really tired so I put her to bed. Once again she was not having it. This time however, she was crying for a bit ever 5-10minutes – seemed to be out of frustration. I went in to see if she had filled her nappy, but she hadn’t so I put her back to bed and stroke her hair for a bit before I went back out. She was not happy. I had to go back in after a couple of minutes and I calmed her down. I put her on me and we cuddled on the chair for a bit, but then she just got more and more hyper and more and more talkative. I didn’t know what to do, but I clearly wasn’t doing the right thing so I left again. She cried for the first couple of minutes before she calmed down and 10 minutes later she was asleep. However, she only slept for 20minutes! I realised pretty quickly she was no longer trying to fall asleep so I brought her back up. I was seriously worried however, as she just looked so tired and what was worse… she was whinging over everything. If she fell on her bum she started crying… just silly stuff. I decided to take her for a walk to the nearest playground, but we had to stop every 2 meters to look at a leaf, a rock or the favourite – drains! We spent some time at a couple of drains… We dropped leaves and rocks down to see and hear what happened. Very exciting. That was fine, but then she started pulling at/ putting her fingers in/ trying to eat grosse things on the ground. AND every time I put Sofia down on the ground she started running in the opposite direction from me. Every time we saw a step up she had to go up and down it a few times. I felt myself starting to have a meltdown. I ended up carrying her the rest of the way home to make it in time for dinner. When we got home I made dinner and she was eating away nicely etc, until suddenly she started banging away on the food. Food was flying everywhere. I said no, no, no and ‘are you done?’. She looked up at me and tipped all of it into her lap! I instantly grabbed her and dragged her out of the chair whilst I said, well ok then – you ARE done… I gave her something to drink and a bit more to eat as I didn’t quite think she was done… hmmmm… Then I started getting everything ready for bedtime and I brought her with me to clean up the toys. I shouldn’t have done that. I was stressed as the bath was running and as I was cleaning up in a great pace Sofia of course started untidying… She started pulling out toys as soon as I had put them away. I lost it and yelled at her. I felt bad instantly, but I don’t know if she actually even got it as she started laughing. She seems to always find it funny when I start getting flustered… We had a good chat in the bath where I apologised and said there is never any need to yell at somebody. I think we understand each other… ;). I put her to bed and she didn’t protest, but it took her about 30minutes to fall asleep. Poor girl, I hope she sleeps well tonight.
