Sofia woke up crying at about 1am. She was crying so painfully. It took her a little while to settle, but as soon as I put her down (after a loooooong cuddle) she started shrieking/crying again. So I went and got pain relief for her – and sat down with her in the hope of cuddle her back to sleep once it kicked in. She wasn’t able to go back to sleep however, so after awhile I tried leaving (about 3am). She started the shrieking/ crying again – sounded awful :(. So I grabbed a pillow and a blanket and got in with her. Not much room for either of us ha ha. It was impossible to sleep like that. Sofia wanted to be as close to me as possible the first period, but then properly tried to sleep and seemed to want a bit of space between us. She seemed to be awake when I got up and left, but she was ok with me leaving at that stage :). I got back to my own bed around 4.30am…
Sofia slept till 6.20am. Then Mike grabbed her and I gave her a snack and read her a book before we all went for a walk. When we got back I had a shower whilst Mike watched over Sofia. Then he got ready for work whilst I gave Sofia breakfast. Afterwards we walked around the house and backyard for a little while before her morning nap. Sofia slept for an hour.
When Sofia woke up she had a snack and a play before we headed off to the doctor to have her 1 year vaccination. She did so well! First she was weighted and measured (length and head circumference), then the doctor listed to her lungs, looked at her eyes and throat, felt her abdomen and hips, then she got stabbed by a needle in both arms. She waited until they were pretty much done before she made the tinyest cry sound. The nurses said it didn’t qualify as a cry ha ha. And then a little sniffle and she was over it. She was smiling to everyone straight after. When we got home she was still in a good mood. Sofia had lunch and then I poured water into the pool (plastic car). She loved it! She sat in there quietly with her toys and occasionally splashed water around. Pablo was right there of course – drinking out of the pool and watching her. I tried getting her out of the pool after 20minutes as I felt she was getting a bit cold, but she didn’t want out so I left it for another 5-10minutes. We went down the slide quite a few times as well. Then it was time for her afternoon nap. Sofia slept for about an hour.
When Sofia woke up it was just before 2pm, so I need to get her to bed quite early. We read books, walked around and played until 5pm. Then Sofia had dinner. Afterwards I put her in the bath, but it was a bit warm still so I put it to cold whilst putting her in. She put her hand underneath the beam and got a massive really cold splash in the face :(. She got surprised and I think got her foot underneath her bum. She started crying so bad. At first I thought I managed to console her still sitting down, but she started up again so I picked her up. I got soaked… then I put her back down after a good cuddle where she seemed fine, but then she started up again. So I just took her out of the bath and skipped bath time completely this time. Then Mike got home and we put her to bed together. She shrieked/ cried after I put her down however, and after a couple of minutes I just had to go back in. I stroke her tummy for a little while until she was calm and rolled over on her side. I could tell she was trying to put herself to sleep so I left. After a few minutes she realised I was gone (I was watching the monitor). Thankfully she didn’t cry, but just got on with it :). That’s my girl :).
Here are a couple of videos of Sofia:
