Sofia then woke up at 3.30am and pretty much refused to go back to sleep. Since Mike had such success last night he decided to try again, however it did not work this time. She seemed fine when I was there – even babbling away. I tried the cry out method, but I never seem to be able to stick with it. I could hear Mike not being able to sleep, I thought about the neighbours, and I just couldn’t stand hearing the cries anymore so I went back in and stood there until she was asleep. Or at least I thought she was… I got into bed and got about 5minutes sleep and then Sofia started crying again. It was 5.30am now so Mike went and got her and I got up with her after several desperate attempts to get Sofia sleeping a bit longer failed. We read a few books and then I did some house work whilst Sofia played by herself. We had breakfast and played a bit more. I didn’t want to put her to bed too early to mess up the routine too much, so I ended up putting Sofia to bed so she was asleep by 9am. That was probably a stupid thing to do :(. Sofia only slept for 30min and refused to go back to sleep.
When Sofia woke up she had a play with me watching her. Then Sofia had a snack, more of a play and lunch at 11.30. After lunch I put her to bed again. She was very tired and rubbing her eyes. BUT did she want to sleep? NO :(. I had to go back in 4 times before she fell asleep, and then she only slept for 20-30min :(. She had filled her nappy, so after I had changed it I tried to get her back to sleep, but no luck. So it’s back up and play… I wanted to go somewhere today, but I have had no time to get ready etc… I just want to sleep and Sofia is continuously crawling on me, all happy and hyper. How can this be? :(.
Sofia is now walking with the walker (without me!) and she is standing and balancing without help for awhile. I have also put her down to balance and had her come 2,5 steps to me. So all in all I think a lot of progress for the little girl. Could this be why is is refusing to sleep? She wants to be up and practicing? But I didn’t do this with her until after her first sleep… Hmmm…
Very close to 3pm, Sofia seemed to slow down… so I took advantage and lifted her up. She had a fit – crying and kicking. I put her back down and 1 minute later I did the same thing. Now she seemed ok with it. I put her to bed and she cried as I left the room. I almost had to go back in, but she calmed herself and put herself to sleep (I thought). 10min later she cries, but as I am about to go in she lays down. Two more times does this happens! And then I have to get her back up. She slept for 30min.
When Sofia woke up properly we went for another play/ walk around. When Mike came home we went across to the park. Pablo got to run around and Sofia got to walk on grass and collect leaves etc. When we got back it was time for dinner and the nighttime routine. She actually went to sleep without any issues or complaints.
But then she woke up crying at 7.30pm. Mike went in and 2min later he was out and she didn’t make a noise…
Here are a few videos of Sofia on her walker and watching / listening to music videos:
