Today was Sofia’s 6 month vaccination and I was very much dreading it. The appointment was at 10am so we missed out on mothers group again, but we’ll make up for it next week :). When I got to the doctors office I didn’t have to wait… and it continued, so that was a nice surprise. First she was weighed and measured; 7.2kg, 67cm height and 43cm head circumference. Looks like she is doing just fine. The doctor had a lot of questions as well to assess Sofia’s development. The only thing is that she should be able to sit without help at this stage, which she doesn’t really. She does if I put something in front of her and make her reach for it, however she drops back to rest on me or she’ll grab my leg to not slide sideways…
Then it was time for the vaccination… Sofia was soooo good. She just let out this very short and soft cry, and then she was all good. She just wanted a bit of boob and some comfort. Even the nurses commented on how soft and low the cry was…
When we got back she was happy to play and didn’t even seem very tender in the thighs where the needles went in. She was just a little bit moody, as in letting me know with a cry if she doesn’t want something or if she can’t reach something… but then again she started doing that not many days ago… When I tried getting her to sleep on the other hand, she just wouldn’t sleep and I spent a few hours getting her to sleep.
She was eating fine as well, so it didn’t seem to affect her appetite. I will see how she’s doing tomorrow, but if she’s doing this well then it looks like swimming is on :).
When I say eating fine… Sofia has eaten like a champ until today, with minimal mess. Yesterday she started spitting out a bit, but it wasn’t too bad. Today… oh wow… she was spitting food and coughing. It’s the first time since we started her on solids I’ve had to clean myself and all the furniture around her as well as herself. I really hope that’s not the way it’s going to be from now on ha ha.
When she was on the boob before bedtime she got hold of one of her soft cloths and she played ‘where is Sofia?’ with me! Soooo cute! She kept placing it on her face… I said; ‘where is Sofia?’ and she pulled it off looking at me with this cheeky grin when I say; ‘there she is!’.
Now she’s asleep, and we’re waiting for our take-out.
